Privacy policy

EZ Energy Save is the energy-savings division of Hill Electric Supply, an electrical supply house in Glens Falls, New York. This policy covers the ezenergysave.com website and the quotes, forms and messages you send us through it.

When you send a message, ask to be told when your state opens, or build a quote, we keep what you enter: your name, business name, email address, phone number, the address or ZIP code of the property, your utility, and the equipment and quantities you are pricing. If you upload a utility bill so we can confirm your rate and account, we keep that file with your quote.

We use this to answer you, to prepare and follow up on your quote, and to apply for the incentive on your behalf. Preparing a utility incentive means sharing the project details, and where the programme requires it your utility account information, with the utility or the programme administrator that funds it. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising.

Incentives depend on the state and the utility, so the site tries to show you yours first. When you give us a ZIP code or choose your state, we remember the state, the ZIP and, where we can tell, the utility that serves it in a cookie for a year, so the map, the calculator and the quote form start on your area the next time you visit. Nothing about the ZIP itself is sent anywhere but to our own server, and the location control in the page header lets you change or clear it at any time.

If you have not given us a ZIP code, we estimate your state from your internet address. The estimate is never more precise than the state, it is kept for a day so we do not look the same address up twice, and it only changes which state is highlighted. Clearing your cookies, entering a different ZIP code or clearing your location replaces it.

This site includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind, available from maxmind.com. Where MaxMind cannot place an address we use ipinfo.io for the same purpose.

The site sets a session cookie so that a quote you are building stays yours while you move between pages, the location cookie described above, and a cookie that remembers whether you prefer the light or the dark colour scheme. None of these identify you.

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and how visitors find the site. Google sets its own cookies for that and receives your truncated internet address and the pages you visit; we do not send it your name, email address or anything you type into a form. You can stop this with a browser extension or by blocking third-party cookies.

Our forms are protected from automated spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser and may set a cookie of its own. The client map on the homepage draws its tiles from OpenStreetMap, so your browser requests map images from their servers when you scroll to it. Fonts and the mapping library are loaded from public content networks. Each of these receives your internet address as part of serving the request, as any web server does.

Messages, interest sign-ups and quotes are kept for as long as we might need them to serve you and to document an incentive application, which utility programmes can audit for several years. Web server logs are kept for a short period for security and to diagnose problems. The location estimate is cached for one day.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it for an incentive application.
